After one of the coldest Springs in many years, the sweet flavorful summer fruits and vegetables are here! We are currently experiencing the triple digit temperatures that fruits and vegetables need for superior flavors and sweetness. Increased sweetness and flavors occur when we have large temperature swings during the day. In our foothill region, it is not unusual to have 100 degree temperatures during the day followed by temperatures in the low 70's or even mid 60's during the night.
Our store has wonderful varieties of white peaches, yellow peaches, white nectarines, yellow nectarines, apricots, plums, and pluots. We also have summer squash and melons. If you are interested in purchasing boxes of peaches, plums, tomatoes, etc., let us know. We also bake fruit pies and have take-and-bake pies from Machado Orchards in Auburn. Fruit pie varieties are: apple, cherry, peach, apricot, mixed berry, raspberry, boysenberry, marionberry, and blackberry.
Each Saturday morning during the summer, we hold a Farmer's Market out front in our parking lot. If you have fruits and vegetables for sale and you are located in Placer County, we allow you to have a free booth space at our Farmer's Market. If you would like to be a vendor, just let us know a few days in advance.
We have wonderful, good-for-you, ranch style meats. Sinclair Family Farms, just up the road in Penryn, provides us with some of the best lamb in this area. Their lamb is grass fed, hormone-free, and grazed the old fashioned way. You will enjoy the mild yet flavorful taste.
We also have excellent grass-fed beef. Our steers are hormone and antibiotic free. They are raised stress free and allowed to roam our rolling Newcastle pastures. If you have never tried grass-fed beef, you are in for a treat. Try the ground beef. It makes a truely "old fashioned" hamburger.
In 1997, Loomis residents, Ron and Tressa Cooper, founded Earth and Vine Provisions. They believe that there is no place for preservatives or anything artificial in their products. After all, our hot summer days and cool nights of our foothills yield some of the most flavorful fruits and vegetables.
